FIVE BASEBALL PLAYERS NAMED ALL-CENTRAL REGION


ST. LOUIS - Five St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) baseball players were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region Team. Webster University's Andrew Fuiten and Joe Biagini were both named to the First Team, while Webster's Craig Schaefer and Maryville University's Robert Huckstep and Bill Allerdissen were all named to the Third Team.

Fuiten was a First Team All-Central Region selection as an outfielder. The 2009 SLIAC Player of the Year, Fuiten finished the season with a .390 batting average, 55 hits, 11 doubles, 15 home runs and 58 RBI. Biagini, the 2009 SLIAC Newcomer of the Year, was named First Team All-Central Region at designated hitter. He hit .368 this season with 56 hits, 14 home runs, nine doubles and 63 RBI.

Schaefer earned Third Team honors at catcher. He was a Second Team All-SLIAC honoree this season and hit .308 with 52 hits, 15 doubles, 8 home runs, one triple and 44 RBI.

Allerdissen and Huckstep were also both Second Team All-SLIAC selections in 2009. Allerdissen was Third Team All-Central Region as a second baseman after posting a .353 batting average, 53 hits, 18 doubles, two home runs and 33 RBI. Huckstep earned Third Team All-Central Region honors at third base. He hit .394 with 54 hits, 17 doubles, one triple and 33 RBI.
