WEBSTER WINS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE SLIAC ALL-SPORTS TROPHY

ST. LOUIS – For the fifth consecutive year, and the ninth time since the award’s inception in 1999, Webster University has captured the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Sports Trophy.  The Gorloks amassed 75 points in 11 sports, an average of 6.82 points per sport, topping runner-up Maryville University.

The SLIAC All-Sports Championship Trophy is determined by awarding points based on each schools finish in the Conference’s 13 sports, earning nine points for a first-place finish, eight points for a second-place finish, etc.  Teams finishing tied split the points for the tied spot and the spot(s) immediately following (two teams finishing tied for third receives 6.5 – seven points for third-place and six points for fourth-place).

Webster won at least a share of the Conference title in three sports – baseball, softball (shared) and volleyball. The Gorloks also finished second in women’s tennis and tied for second in women's soccer.

Maryville earned at least a share of three Conference titles, and totaled 78 points in 12 sports.  The Saints won the men's golf and women’s basketball titles outright and shared the softball title with Webster and Fontbonne.
