SLIAC Players of the Week - October 9

An awards sweep by Greenville University in volleyball and repeat winners in men's soccer and women's cross country highlight the SLIAC Players of the Week winners for October 9.

 

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Kaleb Keller, Principia College

Keller, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., was in the middle of the action in a pair of Principia wins last week. Keller scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Blackburn. The following game, a 3-2 win over Greenville, he drew a foul in the box that led to a penalty kick that helped put Principia up early. Keller then set up the game-winning goal just before half-time. 

 

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Kyle Hertel, Webster University

Hertel, a sophomore from Sandpoint, Idaho, was stout in net for the Gorloks as they remain undefeated in conference play. Hertel made fives saves in a shutout win over Fontbonne and followed with two more saves in a 2-1 victory over Blackburn. Hertel finished with a .875 save percentage on the week, allowing just one goal in 180 minutes played.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Lyndi Saccaro, MacMurray College

Saccaro, a senior from Rochester, Ill., powered the Highlanders to their first conference win this season. She scored four of her team's seven goals in their win over Eureka. Saccaro netted her first goal just five minutes into the game and added a second 10-minutes later. She recorded a hat-trick with a goal at the 18-minute mark and rounded out her day with an additional goal in the 61st minute. Her four goals came on just six shots. 

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Elena Bloma, Webster University

Bloma, a senior defender from St. Louis, Mo., was key in the Gorloks two shutout wins last week. Against Fontbonne, Bloma marked one of the top strikers in the conference, holding her to just one shot on goal. The Gorloks followed by allowing no shots in their win over Blackburn.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Allyson Mitchell, Greenville University

Mitchell, a senior from Gurnee, Ill., led the Panthers to a 3-0 win over Spalding. Mitchell recorded 11 kills in the match, with just three attack errors. She added two service aces and six digs while also tallying three block assists. She finished the match with 14.5 total points.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Brittni Bell, Greenville University

Bell, a senior from Delavan, Ill., provided the Panthers with a strong defensive game at the net in their only match last week, a 3-0 win over Spalding. Bell recorded five blocks in the match, one solo block and four assists. She also added eight kills in the match and totaled 11 points.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 9

Jessie Kuykendall, Westminster College

With her fourth top-three finish this fall, Jessie Kuykendall picks up her fourth SLIAC Women's Cross Country Player of the Week award as well. Kuykendall finished 3rd last weekend at the Gary Stoner Invite hosted by Central Methodist. She completed the 5k course in a time of 19:12 and was the highest finisher for a NCAA Division III runner.

  • Evan Bolwerk, MacMurray College (Men's Soccer) Recorded a hat-trick in MacMurray's 3-1 win over Eureka.
  • Sara Borgerding, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Recorded three matches with more than 20 digs, totaling 80 on the week.
  • Kristina Eason, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Eason recorded three double-doubles last week, averaging 2.5 kills and 3.3 digs per set.
  • Greg Ferry, Fontbonne University (Men's Soccer) Ferry picked up two goals in his team's 3-1 win over Iowa Wesleyan. 
  • Mia Gill, Principia College (Volleyball) Averaged 7.0 digs per set over two conference matches last week.
  • Blake Hausman, Westminster College (Men's Soccer) Recorded a goal and an assist from his backline position in a win over Greenville and followed by being part of a shutout win over MacMurray.
  • Melissa Kasper, Webster University (Women's Soccer) Finished with a goal and three assists in a win over Blackburn.
  • Ashley Kistaitis, Westminster College (Volleyball) Recorded 20 kills in a 3-1 win over Spalding. 
  • David McLeod-Warrick, Principia College (Men's Soccer) Helped record a shutout win over Blackburn then added two goals, including the game-winner, against Greenville.
  • Karlie Peth, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Peth recorded seven points, on three goals and an assist, in her team's win over Iowa Wesleyan.
  • Claudia Spivey, Spalding University (Volleyball) Totaled 24 blocks in four matches last week, including five solo blocks against Iowa Wesleyan.
  • Maria Soffner, Webster University (Volleyball) Averaged 5.3 digs per set including a pair of 20 dig matches.
  • Baylee Tabler, Spalding University (Women's Soccer) Tabler scored just 12-seconds into her team's game against Iowa Wesleyan, marking the 10th fastest goal in NCAA Division III history.
  • Alnee Tutson, Spalding University (Women's Soccer) Tutson anchored a Golden Eagle defense that held their opponents to just two shots in two games while recording a pair of shutouts.
