WESTMINSTER WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS WBCA ACADEMIC RECOGNITION
The 2009-10 Westminster College women's basketball squad has placed 24th nationally in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Role among NCAA Division III programs. The honor roles, named in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches.

UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS BECOMES AFFILIATE MEMBER OF THE ST. LOUIS INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
ST. LOUIS
– The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced today that the University of Dallas (Texas) has been accepted as an affiliate member of the Conference beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.  The University, whose application was approved unanimously by the Conference’s Administrative and Presidents Councils, will compete as members of the SLIAC in women’s and men’s cross country and men’s golf.

WEBSTER'S SAVAGE SIGNS WITH MINOR LEAGUE TEAM
ST. LOUIS -
Will Savage, coming off the finest pitching season in Gorlok baseball annals, has signed with the Milledgeville Capitals of the Peach State League in Georgia. The 2010 graduate made his debut for the Capitals on June 24, starting the game and leaving his team with a 3-1 lead after pitching six strong innings. He did not figure in the decision as the Capitals bullpen couldn't hold the lead.

WEBSTER'S ARIAS SELECTED FOR COSTA RICA U20 WORLD CUP SQUAD
ST. LOUIS -
Webster University women's soccer goalkeeper, Maria Arias, has been selected for the roster of the Costa Rica U-20 National Team.  The team will be competing in the FIFA 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup, from July 13 through August 1, in host country Germany.  Arias is a sophomore from San Jose, Costa Rica.

GREENVILLE'S NEECE FINISHES 2010 AS NATIONAL STATISTICAL CHAMPION
ST. LOUIS - Greenville College's Stefan Neece finished the 2010 baseball season as the NCAA Division III National Statistical Champion in five different categories. He placed first in the national statistical rankings in Home Runs, Slugging Percentage, On-Base Percentage, Base on Balls per Game and Base on Balls.

GREENVILLE'S TOWNSEND CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 110-HURDLES
ST. LOUIS - For the second straight year, Greenville College senior Edgar Townsend has become the NCAA Division III national champion in the 110-meter hurdles. At the NCAA outdoor championships Saturday at Baldwin-Wallace in Berea, Ohio, Townsend ran a school record and NCAA 2010 season-best 14.05 seconds to earn Greenville's third NCAA Division III outdoor national championship. Townsend's performance allowed the Panthers to earn 10 points, placing 26th overall in the standings.

BLACKBURN'S WATT, WESTMINSTER'S CRAFTS RECEIVE SLIAC POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
ST. LOUIS – 2010 Graduates Laura Watt (Jerseyville, Ill./Jersey Community) of Blackburn College and Shanna Crafts (St. Peters, Mo./Francis Howell Central) of Westminster College have been awarded the 2009-10 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Post Graduate Scholarships.
